The chickens
The chickens gave 2 eggs today. We let them out to free range after work. Roosty likes to pretend he found something yummy and when one of the girls comes close he jumps on her. He finds it very amusing. They went in their run almost immediately when we tried to get them in. We use a phrase, "All chicks go to bed" and maybe they're associating the sound with bed time.
Fitbit
We got our fitbits in the mail today and the setup for mine was easy. They came with a 6 month free trial of fitbit premium but when my wife tried to enter her credit card for her free trial Google decided to suspend her account. We spent all evening trying to recuperate 20+ years of emails. Submitting bank statements, IDs, and other paperwork just to regain access. It was an exhausting and stressful experience.
Google as a company has declined so much over the years with the constant abandonment of products and the horrendous customer service. Throughout this whole experience there wasn't a single person we could talk to. No one to tell us what we did wrong or how to recover, literally, a lifetime of emails, attachments, contacts, etc.
This made my wife, understandably, aversive toward the fitbit which I got for her as a gift. It had been many years since I trusted Google enough to purchase one of their products after having bad experiences with the Nest and Google Stadia. Seems they haven't changed one bit. Never again will I purchase a Google product.
The meditation
One good thing to have come out of this whole experience is the meditation integration with the fitbit. There's a nice feature called EDA scan where you place your palm on the device while meditating and it measures some biological changes. Doing this helped me manage some of the emotions I was feeling during this whole ordeal.
Software
I want to explore the fitbit API and see what's available and what uses I can come up with. Not sure if its anything like a smart watch but maybe I can add some interaction to record some interesting things while out on the farm.
