The storm is here

The storm arrived today. We lost power for about an hour and a half. It wasn't too bad. I entertained us with the guitar and listening the Beatles Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band; one of my favorite albums.

It's been raining non stop for about a day and I'm not looking forward to seeing the kind of flooding that is going to be present at the end of this.

The chickens

The chickens stayed indoors most of the day because of the rains. I miss taking them out and watching them chase bugs. Hopefully, when this storm passes it won't take too long for the flooding to clear up so we can take them out again.

Kill Doctor Lucky

We played a board game called Kill Doctor Lucky. Its a kind of parody of Clue where you chase Doctor Lucky around his mansion and try to kill him. Other players can play luck cards to try to save him during your murder attempts. It's an interesting game with some room for strategy. I would give it a 6/10. I'll play it again and see if more strategic thinking leads to interesting results.

Mental health

Mental health is important and emotions should be addressed as soon as they appear. If someone is diabetic and had a low blood sugar event they need to deal with it immediately or there could be serious health consequences.

We should think of emotions the same way. Whenever an emotion arises we should turn towards it and observe it until it does its thing and then subsides. If we don't it could lead to mindlessly acting on the emotion. This could give rise to other, more painful, emotions or further reinforce the mind's habit of reacting emotionally to situations.

Think of emotions as a reminder or notification to take a moment and be mindful.
