Repairs

We received the vinyl patch kit in the mail. Its basically just an adhesive paper-like patch that you place over the damaged area. I removed the tree which must have weighed a good 150-200 pounds and I placed about 6 or 7 patches over the area. It looks like it may hold for a while but eventually the panel will have to be replaced. I'll keep an eye on it.

The chickens

The chickens have been producing 3 eggs per day for the last few days. This is very high production for 3 hens. They would normally give about 2 eggs per day before. One of the eggs is a bit smaller than the rest so I'm thinking, either we didn't have all 3 laying before or, they're at peak production now. I know they'll slow down once winter comes and next year they won't be as productive. But we'll probably get more baby chicks next year to bump up the numbers.

They love free ranging and are really good at catching grasshoppers. I think once we have more chicks they'll have safety in numbers and we can leave them out on their own unsupervised for longer periods of time.

Overseer

I started working on a Linux server management application. I call it Overseer. The idea is that it provides a UI for those who are not comfortable with the command line to do basic Linux admin tasks like managing resources, upgrading packages/kernel, and bringing up or down multiple machines at a time.

You can find the code here.
