April 22nd 2026 - An Evolutionary Reason Why We Share Stories and Knowledge
Our ancestors were storytellers. They would gather around the fire after a long day hunting or gathering and tell stories. These were our main ways of socializing, sharing knowledge, and trying to understand the world around us.
For hundreds of thousands of years we did this because it helped us survive. Those who enjoyed sharing stories learned from others and had a higher chance of survival and being mated with. Their storytelling genes passed down to us and this is probably why we enjoy telling and listening to stories and sharing knowledge with others.
Some of us write and share information because we find it enjoyable. We're hardwired, genetically, to feel the pleasure of sharing knowledge and ideas.
