The Hobbit

Gollum

A creature named Gollum, who refers to himself as "my precious" is rowing on the lake. He spots Bilbo and approaches him, challenging him to a game of riddles. If Gollum wins he gets to eat Bilbo but if he loses he has to show him the way out.

They go back and forth exchanging riddles.

The Eye of the World

Lady Moiraine talks to the boys and they inquire why she's in Two Rivers. She says she's there to study history and that Two Rivers is an interesting place. The boys are dumbfounded as they believe the town is just a place with sheep.

Lady Moiraine gives them each a valuable silver piece in exchange for help with "chores" in the future. The boys are shocked at the value of the piece she gave them.

The peddler finally arrives in town.

    This takes into account the two most common cues for a habit which are time and location.
