Gollum unknowingly guides Bilbo near the exit trying to look for him but stops short of where the Goblins tend to be. Bilbo tries to make a daring escape and jumps over Gollum whose heightened senses perceive him. But Gollum is unsuccessful in catching him. Bilbo keeps running but Gollum stops and curses him, calling him a thief. Bilbo finds a door.
