May 10th 2026 - A Lot Of People Are Complaining About Github
It seems GitHub is having a lot of issues these days and many suspect its due to the higher volume of code being produced by LLMs. Many teams, open source or otherwise, rely on GitHub to host their projects.
But for $5 a month I can host a server and put a bunch of projects on there. Yeah, I don't have a million stars on my repos but it works for what I need and I can give access to whoever I want. I still use GitHub for most of my projects but some are hosted privately on my own infrastructure. The appeal of free project hosting is wearing thing. If GitHub doesn't deal with the influx of volume they're experiencing I think more people will go the same route.
