The cost to run models is currently prohibitively high for most users. GitHub Copilot recently announced a pricing change and many are upset about the limited usage they now have. If RAM prices go down I suspect that model prices also will drop. But in order for this to happen new companies need to spring up and compete with the existing players. Until then, we're stuck with high usage fees.

With companies also complaining about the costs of AI usage this leaves little room for companies to keep charging these prices. If hiring a human is cheaper then, either, companies will use AI less or prices have to come down. There's no other way about it.
