June 30th 2026 - Religion For Some, Philosphy For Others

There are some who thrive in order, rules, and boundaries set up by religion. These kinds of people don't tend to question things at a deeper level or try to find the causes of ideas like meaning itself.

Others have a constant drive to know more, to question everything, and to understand reality in more than one mode. After having seen that there is no stable footing, or one true reality as it were, these kinds of people start to question how the mechanisms of perceived reality work.

This second category has always interested me far more than the first. Long ago I realized there is no one, true, objective reality because everything is constantly filtered through our subjective experiences. For years I've been fascinated by the idea that all we have to go by are our mental models of reality even though all models are inaccurate at some level, though some models can be useful for different purposes. The greatest purpose, of course, is that of our experiences of peace or suffering. These are what drive most of our behaviors. We try to avoid pain and gain pleasure, running away from stress and seeking peace or relief from our desires.
